International Gemmological Institute IPO Description – The International Gemological Institute (IGI) is the world’s second-largest independent certification and accreditation services provider for diamonds, studded jewelry, and colored stones, with a global market share of approximately 33% based on certifications conducted in CY2023. Established in 1975 in Belgium, IGI has built a strong reputation as a leading certifier, particularly excelling in the laboratory-grown diamond segment, where it holds a commanding 65% market share.
As of 30 September 2024, IGI operates through a global network of 31 branches equipped with laboratories across 10 countries, including major markets such as India, Belgium, the USA, Thailand, UAE, Hong Kong, and China. This extensive network allows IGI to provide timely services to its diverse customer base. IGI has invested in advanced technologies to enhance its grading processes. Notably, in 2018, it introduced the Dcheck System, which differentiates between laboratory-grown and natural diamonds. Furthermore, IGI’s laboratories are recognized for their use of both proprietary and industry-standard gemological instruments.
As of 30 September 2024, IGI served a diverse customer base of over 7,500 clients across 10 countries. These included laboratory-grown diamond producers, wholesalers of natural diamonds and colored stones, jewelry manufacturers, and retailers.
