In a move that will change the face of child and family mental health in India, Gurugram-based mental health startup LISSUN has acquired US-based digital mental health company Being Cares Inc. The acquisition is a big deal for LISSUN as it doubles down on building an AI-driven, therapist-led behavioural ecosystem for children and families dealing with emotional and developmental issues.

Though the financials are not disclosed, the impact is already being felt across the healthtech space.
Combining Clinical Expertise with AI Intelligence
Founded in 2021 by Krishna Veer Singh and Tarun Gupta, LISSUN has gained prominence through its hybrid model that blends clinical care with scalable technology. With this acquisition, LISSUN not only takes over Being Cares’ intellectual property and technology platform but also integrates its entire team, including its two founders.
Varun Gandhi, Co-founder and former CEO of Being Cares, will now serve as Chief Product Officer at LISSUN, while Abhishek Sharma, the former CTO, joins as Chief Technology Officer. Their inclusion means LISSUN will get to enhance its AI while retaining clinical empathy.
“This is not just an acquisition—it’s a foundation to build a mental healthcare model that addresses families’ needs from the first signs of distress to long-term therapy,” said Tarun Gupta, Co-founder of LISSUN. “With Being’s intelligent mental health mapping and our therapist network, we are building a system where technology amplifies care, not replaces it.”
What Being Cares Brings to the Table
Being Cares Inc., based in the US, has served close to one million users globally through its AI-powered platform that maps over 2,500 real-world causes and effects tied to more than 40 emotional and behavioural conditions. These include prevalent adult issues such as anxiety, depression, burnout, and parenting stress, and extend into the child-focused domain, covering autism, ADHD, speech delays, and learning difficulties.
The company also offered tools such as AI-guided journaling sessions, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) solutions, and rapid mental health analysis tools.
Being’s proprietary technology is designed to deliver hyper-personalized guidance, functioning as a real-time diagnostic and advisory layer that complements human therapists.
Building the Sunshine Ecosystem
This acquisition directly fuels the growth of Sunshine by LISSUN, the company’s dedicated division launched in June 2023 to address neurodevelopmental and behavioural concerns in children. With over 10,000 children supported and more than 30,000 therapy hours delivered across 20 physical centres, LISSUN now plans to scale Sunshine to 200 centres within the next 2–4 years.
This expansion is also bolstered by “Ray,” LISSUN’s AI virtual assistant, which will now integrate Being’s technology to deliver real-time, personalised guidance to parents via platforms such as WhatsApp—ensuring care is accessible anytime, anywhere.
A Full-Spectrum Mental Health Provider
With this acquisition, LISSUN is now a full-spectrum mental health provider with digital and in-person interventions across home, school and clinical settings. The company has built an in-house clinical team and has served over 75,000 clients and partnered with 350+ B2B clients, including Uber, Zerodha, and Unacademy.
The company’s strategy is in line with the industry trend where tech is not being used as a standalone solution but as a force multiplier for human empathy and expertise. The mental health space in India is rapidly evolving, with startups such as InnerGize and Mave Health exploring cutting-edge neurotech. However, LISSUN’s acquisition of Being Cares sets it apart in terms of scale, ambition, and clarity of mission.
As Varun Gandhi, now CPO at LISSUN, aptly put it: “Our north star was always building an empathetic, intelligent mental health assistant families could trust. With LISSUN, we now have the infrastructure and aligned values to bring this vision to life.”
Outlook
Following its INR 20 crore (USD 2.5 million) funding round last year, LISSUN’s latest acquisition underscores its long-term commitment to transforming pediatric and family mental health through a unique fusion of AI, clinical insight, and nationwide physical outreach.

In a country where developmental disorders are on the rise and there is a shortage of child psychologists, LISSUN’s move couldn’t have come at a better time. By bridging the gap between early symptom detection and full-fledged therapeutic support, the startup is going to redefine how mental health is delivered—not just as a service but as a lifelong continuum of care.
